The Consortium for the Protection of Valtellina Apples is a non-profit professional organisation founded in 1992 with the purpose of protecting, promoting and nurturing the value of the apple varieties grown in Valtellina with the PGI classification.

The valley’s eastern-western exposure and the “Breva” (thermal wind) from nearby Lake Como make the weather in Valtellina very mild, ideal for cultivating and producing apples.

Valtellina PGI Apples belong to three varieties: Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Gala.
They all maintain their flavour and crunchiness for a long time, owing to the unique organoleptic characteristics of fruit grown in the mountains.
